Each Scratch & Dent Enhanced Bolt is thoroughly inspected, tested, and held to the same standards as our regular Enhanced Bolts. Occasionally, due to shipping, heat treating, or the coating process, some of our Enhanced Bolts will come back with minor visual imperfections. These imperfections could be a small indentation from fixturing, machine marks, scratches below the nickel boron coating, or staining. None of these defects impact the functionality of the final product.
When designing the Enhanced Bolt, we looked at the main issue that our customers and employees were facing: excessive wear. Our manufacturing and engineering team tackled this issue by producing our Enhanced Bolt from D2 Tool Steel, and heat treating to a minimum of 58 HRC. Using this material and rockwell provides not only superior wear resistance than other bolts for the CZ Scorpion, but it also provides far superior impact resistance. We then use a Nickel Boron coating on each Enhanced Bolt to provide additional durability, this Nickel Boron coating adds an approximate 70 HRC to the surface of the bolt.
